“I hate everything” tee from Adorned by Chi
We’ve already given you the foundations of the perfect pity party for when you’re feeling sad, but what about the times when your emotion meter reads more red than blue?
You know those days where you wake up with an inexplicable and unwavering sense of disdain for everything ever created, yourself included? No? It’s just me? Ok, well those down days come and they go but the older I get the more ways I’ve learned to deal. Here are three ways to “un-hate” everything!
Remember you’re not alone
Sometimes our feelings can isolate us, but it’s important to remember you’re not the only one dealing with these emotions. There are people out there who are going through the same thing. You are not alone, and it’s ok and normal to feel these feelings sometimes. Once you realize that, the loneliness of feeling “eff-the-worldish” will lessen.
Do things that make you smile
Next, indulge in little things that make you happy. That can be watching your favorite anime, eating your favorite food, or spending time in nature. Whatever makes you crack a smile should be added to your daily to-do list.
Talk to a trusted, non-judgmental friend or family member
Being able to vent and laugh with a trusted friend is a great way to release some steam and make light of your heavy feelings. Be careful not to continually unload on people or divulge your feelings to the wrong person though! Our friends have feelings too.
Bonus: Make a conscious effort to see the beauty in the world around you
Journaling about what you’re grateful for helps center yourself and keeps your mind focused on positives, rather than drowning in the negative. A trick is to keep your journal right next to your bed, so when you’re feeling less than stellar you can just reach over and grab it! You may have to force yourself at first but after a few times it’ll be instinctual.
So there you have it! How do you un-hate everything? Let us know below!
