Wearing your heart on your sleeve is played out. The newest trend? Wearing your heart on your face! Ok, so the “trend” of heart shaped beauty marks is as old as black and white movies, but like all things beauty, what goes around always comes back around.
Check out the trend as worn by silver screen actress Clara Bow in the 1920s (photographed by Eugene Robert Richee):
And in the 90’s by supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri during Thierry Mugler’s 1992 show
It was brought to the forefront of beauty again by singer Marina and the Diamonds in 2012:
Don’t be fooled. Making the perfect heart-shaped beauty mark isn’t as easy as it may seem. This dainty look can easily go horribly wrong and you can wind up looking like you made a bad decision on a drunken night (gaudy face tattoo anyone?).
The key is placement. You can’t go wrong with a tiny heart right below the corner of the eye like Marina and the Diamonds. Shaky hands? This heart shaped face stamp is a nice shortcut ;).
What do you think of this beauty trend? Yay, or nay?
